Matters of attention on management

Selection of the manager

Please select or appoint an elevator manager who shall fully understand how to contact related departments in an emergency as well as emergency measures. Also, assistants shall be selected in preparation for absence of the manager.

Machine room

Machine room doors shall be shut tightly. Only authorized persons may enter. Please do not place a hindering object around the machine room or the entrance door so there is no barrier for people.

Inside the machine room

It shall be guaranteed that snow and/or rain leak through the window or the ventilation opening, which will affect operating machines (motor, control panel, etc.) of the machine room. Place a fire extinguisher to remove a fire from electricity.

Platform

In order to promote no smoking inside an elevator, place an ashtray on the platform. If water enters when cleaning the platform, there will be a problem with normal operation. Take preventive measures in advance.

Inside an elevator

Do not transport a long object using the emergency exit on the ceiling of the elevator. When moving goods to be moved or heavy objects (piano, etc.), place a protective plate on the floor and the walls. Only safety-related leaflets can be displayed inside an elevator.

Importance of daily inspection

• This is for safe operation, quality maintenance, lifespan increase and conveniences of users.

Inspection of problems with elevators/escalators

Inspection of operators

• Check if there are broken or cracked steps or combs.
• Check if there are foreign materials in steps or combs.
• Check if there are comb teeth protruding.
• Check if the connection of the skirt guard is slanted.
• Check if the crevice between steps and skirt guards is normal.
• Check if handrails have been damaged.
• Check if the triangle protective plate is solidly placed.
• Check if banisters to prevent falls are solid enough.

Inspection while driving

• Check if there are noise and vibration that are different from those at normal times.
• Check if the speed of handrails is equivalent to the step speed.
• Check if the step groove and comb teeth are accurately matched.
